1968 saw a new production, “Stree”, under the banner Sarathi Films. The story was by Parbati Ghose under the pen name Srabani. This was the second directorial venture of the trio Thakur Bhai, Gour Prashad, and Parbati Ghose under SIDDHARTH.
Gour and Parbati scored a hat trick of National Awards with “Stree” in the regional category. The award was presented by the then President, Sri V. V. Giri. The premiere was held in Rourkela and was attended by notable figures including the then CM Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo and Industry Minister Harihar Patel.
Ghose’s ongoing tradition of introducing new faces and talents continued with this movie:
The climax scene was shot in the premises of the famous Raghunath Jew Temple in Cuttack. This iconic last shot with the Temple background has been honored and immortalized by the National Film Archive of India in their 2019 desk calendar.
The songs were filmed at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar and at Indira Gandhi Park and Vedvyash in Rourkela.
