Malati Choudhury (NUMAA)

This biopic on Malati Choudhury, the legendary Freedom fighter, Sarvodaya leader and philanthropist, revealed many facets of her dedicated life.

Her efforts for the upliftment of the deprived tribal and other abandoned children, led her to establish ‘Bajirao Chhatravas’ at Angul, Odisha. Along with noted Freedom Fighter Sarangdhar Das, she established the ‘Utkal Navjivan Mandal’ for the under privileged and oppressed villagers of Angul. Later this branched out in every district.

She was a true Gandhian and had accompanied Bapu in Nuakhali and in Odisha. She was the first female student at Shantinekan. She was also the first woman to be elected to the Constituent Assembly of Odisha.

She was the ultimate saviour for the destitute women in the State. Till her last, she never bowed down nor compromised to any injustice. She was a true source of inspiration and motivation for all the women, not only in Odisha but throughout the country.
